Custom website builds
A clean, fast site designed around your brand and built on a modern stack — Astro, Next.js, or whatever genuinely fits. No bloated page builders, no monthly platform fees forever, no compromise on performance.
— Web development services
Custom-built websites and honest audits, delivered by one person who actually answers your email. Recent NSCC IT Programming honours graduate bringing rigorous engineering practice to small-business sites — no template kits, no agency markup, no mystery Google rankings.
— What I offer
A clean, fast site designed around your brand and built on a modern stack — Astro, Next.js, or whatever genuinely fits. No bloated page builders, no monthly platform fees forever, no compromise on performance.
Take a slow, outdated, or unindexable site and turn it into something you're proud to send clients. For my Work-Integrated Learning placement, my team audited NSCC's eCampus learning portal — documenting 21 WCAG accessibility violations and a 6.6 MB initial payload — then designed and prototyped a static Astro replacement. The same audit-and-rebuild approach scales down cleanly to small-business sites.
If your site loads slowly on a phone, you're losing visitors before they even read your headline. I audit what's actually slowing things down — render-blocking scripts, unoptimised images, third-party bloat — and fix it measurably, with before-and-after Lighthouse numbers you can verify.
WCAG AA compliance isn't just a legal box-check — it makes your site usable for everyone, including the 1-in-5 Canadians with some form of disability. I'll identify contrast failures, missing labels, keyboard traps, and screen-reader issues, then fix them without changing your design.
The technical groundwork that lets Google actually find and rank you: sitemap submission, structured data, Open Graph cards, meta descriptions, and Search Console setup. I won't promise top rankings (nobody honestly can), but I'll make sure you're properly discoverable.
For sites I've built or rebuilt, I offer flat-rate monthly maintenance — updates, content edits, small feature additions. No surprise invoices, no "wait three weeks for a tweak." Cancel anytime.
— How we work together
Send me a link to your current site (or a description of what you need). I'll come back with an honest assessment: what's working, what's costing you visitors, and what's worth doing first. No obligation, no sales pressure.
Once we've talked about your goals, I write up a clear scope with a fixed price and timeline. You see exactly what's included and what isn't. No padding for "discovery hours" you don't get to see.
I build it with regular check-ins so you see progress and can redirect before anything is locked in. You're working directly with the developer — no account manager, no game of telephone.
Launch day comes with documentation: where everything lives, how to make basic edits, what to do if something breaks. You own the domain, the hosting, the code. If you want me to handle ongoing care, that's an option. If not, you walk away with everything you need.
— Why work with me
No account manager filtering your feedback. No agency markup. The person you message is the person writing your code.
The portfolio you're reading right now is my own build — same stack, same care, same approach I'd bring to your site. Click around, check the case studies, view source if you want. The quality is verifiable.
Not retrofitted at the end as an afterthought. Modern stack, real Core Web Vitals, WCAG AA contrast and labels — these are the starting point, not the upsell.
Every architectural decision I make on your site is something I can explain in plain language. Look at the case studies on this portfolio — same approach you'll get for your business.
Your domain. Your hosting account. Your source code. No proprietary lock-in, no "if you leave us, you lose your site." If we part ways, you keep the site running on your own.
Based in Eastern Passage. Same time zone, same coffee shops. I pick up the phone, I answer email the day you send it, and a meeting in person is genuinely an option for Halifax-area businesses.
— Recent work
Two projects from my recent NSCC training that show how I work. Neither was a paid commercial engagement — I'm honest about that — but both involved real audits, real architecture decisions, and real engineering deliverables for honours credit. Click through for the full case studies.
School capstone · Real client
A React/TypeScript e-commerce storefront I built as a school capstone for a small skincare business in Antigonish. Tailwind v4 dark-mode architecture, TSDoc documentation across 81 files, Formspree integration for transactional inquiries. The shop has since closed and the site was a proof-of-concept that never went live publicly — but the build remains a fair demonstration of the polish I'd bring to your storefront.

Senior developer and architect on a four-person team that audited and prototyped a replacement for NSCC's eCampus learning portal during my WIL placement. We documented 21 WCAG accessibility violations and a 6.6 MB initial payload on the existing site, then designed and built a static-first Astro alternative. Submitted to NSCC as a deliverable.
